Group or Org Volunteers

We provide monthly food support to eligible households through our Fresh Food Pantry. Families can receive a box of fresh produce and pantry staples based on income guidelines.

How to Apply:

  1. Download and complete the application form.
  2. Bring it to the Sankofa Fresh Start Market or email it to cheryl@sankofanola.org. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Sankofa CDC supports seniors age 60 and older through the monthly Senior Commodity Box that includes shelf-stable items such as cereal, pasta, rice, beans, canned fruit, and milk alternatives.

How to Apply:

  1. Download and complete the application form.
  2. Submit it at the Sankofa office during pantry hours (Monday & Wednesday, 9 AM–2 PM).

Our team is available to assist seniors or caregivers with any questions.

Sankofa CDC provides in-person assistance to help community members apply for SNAP benefits. We guide you through the application process and review the documents needed to determine eligibility.

How to Get Started:

  1. Email cheryl@sankofanola.org or call (504) 381-5690 to schedule an appointment.
  2. Attend your appointment in person at:
    Fresh Start Market
    5029 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans, LA
  3. Appointments are available Monday–Friday, 9 AM–2 PM.

Applicants must bring proof of income, ID, and address for all household members age 20 or older.
