“This flycatcher has several lookalikes that will also inhabit Sankofa Wetland Park from time to time. But you can identify the Eastern Phoebe by their constantly flicking tail as they sit perched, and by their habit of flying to the ground to snatch a bug then returning to the perch. Eastern Phoebes winter in New Orleans, arriving here in late September and leaving in early March. You’ll hear their song on sunny winter days: feeee-beee……feeee- BEE!” – Christopher Esposito
